Society is convincing women that if they are "not in the mood" for sex, and if they don't feel like making love that night, then they shouldn't have to even think about it! Both people should be in the mood in order to consider making love right?
WRONG! What happened to foreplay?
Society is convincing men that sex is now completely "off limits" unless his wife is already "in the mood" which seldom happens. Many husbands have expressed to us how fearful they are of even trying to initiate sex anymore, as they "only are after one thing." Yes they are... To connect with their wife! That is a big reason we get married, to have a passionate lover next to our side to express love to in many ways, including sex.
The majority of women have a responsive desire style which means they will never be in the mood for sex, unless they "get in the mood" first. That is where foreplay comes in. It is such a false narrative to think you have to be in the mood to be sexually intimate. THAT IS THE WHOLE PURPOSE OF FOREPLAY... TO GET A RESPONSIVE DESIRE SPOUSE IN THE MOOD TO BE SEXUALLY INTIMATE!
In this episode, Nick and Amy discuss why foreplay is so important for both spouses to talk about and implement. Instead of "waiting" to be in the mood, allow your spouse to get in the mood through foreplay. Foreplay often times can be the most enjoyable part of sexual intimacy.
Don't dismiss the importance of foreplay in your marriage, and don't believe that you always have to be in the mood to enjoy sexual intimacy. That is the whole purpose of foreplay is to get a lower desire, or responsive desire spouse in the mood.
